South Herts 1st XI v Leighton Buzzard 2nd XI

On a freezing December morning, a slightly below par South Herts 1st Xl kept up their unbeaten record to take into 2008 with a 0-0 draw against an energetic Leighton Buzzard team.

Herts struggled to ever really get going in the game and their usual fluent passing had seemingly departed on its Christmas holidays. Despite all this Herts battled through the game and kept a second consecutive clean sheet thanks to an outstanding performance in goal by man of the match Mo Gough.

Leighton Buzzard created a number of opportunities but each time Gough was quick off her line to clear the ball from the on rushing forwards. When Buzzard did get a shot in, Gough made diving saves to tip the ball round the post or away to her defence allowing them to clear.

Herts created more attacks in the second half but the Buzzard keeper saved the only direct shot on goal whilst another Herts shot went agonisingly wide. Anna Walker, bearing a striking resemblance to roadrunner, went speeding past the Buzzard midfield in the closing minutes of the game but the last defender snuffed out her run through on goal.
