Luton 3rd XI v South Herts 2nd XI

15th November 2008

In a bright but chilly day South Herts travelled to Luton, with similar team colours the game got a little confused at times. It was a thoroughly enjoyable game to play. South Herts dominated the first half. The first goal came within the first 10 minutes with Sarah Withers recieving the ball on the right, making a lovely run up the wing and smacking it into the goal from about 5 yards out... scoring her first ever league goal.

However in the first half South Herts defending and attacking well, man marking which definitely needed improving became quite sloppy at times, we were unlucky not to score again in the first half.

A tighter second half saw some lovely hockey played, South Herts were very unlucky to go 2-1 down. Even though some lovely runs and passing through the midfield saw some very close chances of scoring, a shot from Karen Lawson at the edge of the D ricochetted off one of a defending sticks and looked like it was going high but dropped nicely over the keeper into the back of the net.

Scorers: Sarah Withers and Karen Lawson

Man of the match: Sarah Withers
