Hertford 3rd XI v South Herts 2nd XI

On a positively tropical afternoon on the 14th day of February the 2nd XI arrived at Balls Park to take on Hertford.

South Herts started with the ball and were not keen to give it away as the team passed perfectly to each other and did a lot of attacking in the first half. This saw us get rewarded with a short corner about fifteen minutes from half time. A pass out by Chris Field to Karen Lawson and the perfect shot just left of the Hertford Goalie hitting the back of the box giving South Herts a 1-0 advantage.

After half time South Herts kept their play going with excellent runs by attackers and defenders, passes that were awesome and even a couple shots on goal that unfortunately weren’t angled enough to go in.

Reminding us we are human, South Herts tired and let one goal past us making the score 1-1. But we quickly fought back with a brilliant attack up the field and a bit of a goalmouth scramble resulting in Chris Field getting the last touch and giving us a 2-1 lead. South Herts got their 3rd goal from another short corner almost identical as the first but with a slight difference. Hit by Karen the ball got a deflection from a Hertford defender resulting in a flyer going over the defenders including the goalie’s head and hitting the back of the net.

South Herts played brilliant throughout the game and were well rewarded with a 3-1 win.
