Potters Bar 2nd X1 v Enfield Ladies - PRE- SEASON FRIENDLY

Potters Bar Ladies 2nd team (formally South Herts 2nd) began a pre season friendly game on home turf on Saturday against Enfield Ladies.

Potters Bar were missing key defenders and were forced into defence early on and had to prevent Enfield from dominating the game. It was the visitors who scored the first goal after a Bar messy start giving the home team a push to play harder.

Lucy Saye, Claire Pollitt and Shelley Farmer worked tirelessly in midfield to create opportunities and provide balls through into Sarah Gower who was unfortunate not to convert early after her hungry attempts.

Hard work from Chris Field, Charlotte Sayers and Jenny Milne in defence and Esther Strous (captain) in goal prevented any further goal scoring opportunities.

After some clever play from Shefali Desai and Michelle Lewis on the right flank Potters Bar knew they were capable of bringing the game back and a slick pass from Farmer into Alison Dale, brought the equaliser with a solid strike.

The second half saw Potters Bar have more possession and with Pollitt now in defence and last year's top scorer Field back on the wing, Gower's determination paid off and she coverted Field's cross from left wing to put Bar ahead.

Potters Bar were now more confident and with Katie Francis and Sarah Withers subbing in for tired legs, Bar kept up their positive play. Two more goals followed with Dale scoring another and Field also converting.

The game finished 4-1 to Potters Bar with some excellent potential when they host Chess Valley at home next week to start their league campaign.
