Potters Bar 2nd XI v Chess Valley 2nd XI26th September 2009Potters Bar Ladies 2nd team began the first game of the season in Division 4 Five Counties league on Saturday at home. Bar were hosting Chess Valley Ladies 2nd for a 3pm push back in an unusual Autumn heatwave. Bar confident with a good line up took the lead straight away with a flick from Kerry McCann in the 'D' which beat the keeper. Experienced keeper Glenys Chiswell was back in goal, and with the captain Esther Strous, Michelle Lewis and Charlotte Sayers on the back line prevented any early attempts from the away team. McCann and Shelley Farmer paired well in centre half to provide balls to the wing players Alison Dale and Chris Field. It was not long until Dale provided a cross into Sarah Gower who neatly converted a 2nd goal. Ashley Rouse was strong on her stick on the left, and with the determination of Claire Pollitt, the ball was cleverly worked from Farmer into Emily Stoker who provided a pass into attack and saw Field claim the 3rd goal. The away team put numbers into the 'D', and with smart play from McCann a number of short corners was earnt with constant attempts on goal. The second half saw Michelle Niblett give an assist to Field who scored an early 4th goal. Bar played intelligently spreading the play and keeping the pressure on Chess Valley. With confident one touch passing from Farmer and Strous (now centre forward) bought more strength into attack which allowed Sarah Withers to convert the 5th goal. Dale continued to bring width into the attack which provided Strous with space in the 'D' to beat the keeper with the 6th goal. The final score was 6 - 0 to Potters Bar which is an excellent start to this season, and are now confident in hosting another game next Saturday.
