Potters Bar V Harlow

Potters Bar faced a strong line up in a green clad Harlow on Monday evening. The astro-turf mimicking kit must have gave Harlow early confidence because seconds after push back Bar conceded a goal, ending Hutcherson’s untarnished clean sheet. With Bar a goal down the whole team stepped up, and reliable Partridge took a hold in defence to prevent any Harlow second goal. Walker, Passmore and Rose worked tirelessly in mid field to push the team forward. Edwards also stepped into mid field to provide a little flare, which paid off when Passmore squeezed a conversion making the game even at 1-1.

Hutcherson and Sayers played a huge part in denying Harlow’s chances, with great timed tackles by the young Bar player and some hard hitting kicks away from goal by Bar’s keeper. Full back Arouse provided length on the right and with Withers upfront on the wing, pressure built up and Porter was denied the second goal by hitting the post. Despite this Edwards added her magic touch by claiming her 5th goal in the summer league so far, and putting Bar into the lead for the first time in the game. Bar missed out on a few chances from great attacking play but lacked the finish, and let Harlow who were a worthy opponent to battle hard and gain a second goal. It ended end to end stuff and with the final score as a draw of 2-2, earning an earned point in the league table and a great game to watch.
